What is the heatmap filter?
Article goal: After reading this article, you can filter the heatmap by type (causes, symptoms) and labels, create and combine individual filters and filter groups, and adjust the logic (and/or) per filter group.
How do I filter the heatmap?
1. Open the filter menu

Click the Filter button above the heatmap. A menu opens with two options:
Add single filter — Adds a single filter.
Add filter group — Adds a group of filters connected with "and".
2. Add a single filter
Click Add single filter. A dropdown menu appears where you can select a filter category.

You can filter by three categories:
Type – Filters by causes, symptoms, or both.
Labels – Filters by assigned labels.
Templates – Filters by templates (chains only).
Select the desired category from the dropdown. A list of options appears below. Check the values you want to filter by and click Apply.

3. Edit and combine filters
Click the three dots on a filter card and choose “Edit” to open the drawdown again and change your selection. Click apply to save your changes.
To combine multiple filters, click the filter button to add an individual filter at the end of your filters. Click the three dots on a filter card to add a filter after that specific filter card. All filters on one level will be connected with the same AND or OR logic.

4. Use filter groups
Click Filter and select Add filter group to create a filter group. Within a filter group, you can combine multiple filters.

You can adjust the logic (AND/OR) individually per filter group. Click the connector between the filters in the group to switch between AND and OR.
Example: Filter applied to check the probabilities of all Symptoms with the Label “Hardware” or “Malfunction” within the template/section “Cardboard Packaging”.

5. Remove a filter
Click the three-dot menu next to a filter to edit or remove the filter. Click the filter-button and choose “Clear all filters” in the context menu to delete all filters.

Important Notes
Filters only affect the display of the heatmap. The underlying data is not changed.
If you deselect all checkboxes within a filter and click Apply, the filter will effectively return no results.
You can freely combine filters and filter groups to create complex queries.
