This article is for IT departments that review findIQ before a rollout. It describes how findIQ runs technically and what it needs from your devices and infrastructure.

Web-based application

findIQ is a web-based application. It runs in the browser on computers, tablets and smartphones and is optimised for mobile use on the shop floor. No client software needs to be installed or distributed.

  • findIQ runs in current versions of common browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.

  • Updates are rolled out centrally by findIQ. There is no client-side update process for your IT.

  • Users can optionally add findIQ to their home screen or start menu so it opens like an app in its own window. This is a browser feature, not a separate installation. User guide: Install findIQ as an app

Devices

No special hardware is required. findIQ runs on any computer, tablet or smartphone with a current browser, for example with Windows, macOS, Android or iOS. For use directly at the machine, we recommend smartphones or tablets. Existing company devices can be used. Several users can share a device, and shared user accounts are also allowed.

The offline mode has higher device requirements, see Offline use below.

Network

findIQ only needs an outgoing internet connection via HTTPS. All communication is encrypted with TLS. No inbound connections, VPN or local servers are required.

If your network restricts outgoing connections, please allow the following domains including all subdomains:

  • *.findiq.de

  • *.findiq.com

findIQ sends emails such as invitations and notifications. To make sure they do not end up in spam, please also allow emails from these domains.

Sign-in and user management

There are two ways to sign in:

  • findIQ accounts with a password policy, brute-force protection and optional two-factor authentication.

  • Single sign-on with Microsoft Entra ID or any other OpenID Connect provider. Users then sign in with their company account, and your own policies such as MFA or conditional access apply. findIQ never receives passwords. Setup: SSO

In addition, public links or share links can be created to give people without a findIQ account access to selected content.

Your administrators manage users, roles and user groups themselves and decide who can access which machines and knowledge. Details: Roles and access rights

Integration into your system landscape

findIQ can be used on its own, but can also be connected to existing systems such as ERP, maintenance management, ticketing or service portals. The options are:

  • REST API: An OpenAPI-documented interface to read and write data. You can use it to build your own integrations, for example to synchronise machines from your ERP or to create service cases from another system. Authentication uses OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.

  • Embedding: Troubleshooting and routines can be opened directly from another application via a link, for example from a work order in your maintenance software, without the full findIQ interface.

  • External IDs: findIQ objects can be addressed with identifiers from your systems, such as an asset number from your ERP, so no mapping table is needed.

  • AI systems: Your own AI system, such as Microsoft Copilot, can access findIQ via the findIQ MCP server, see What Is an MCP Server?

findIQ can also implement integration workflows for you, for example automated data transfers between your systems and findIQ. These are charged separately. None of this is required to get started. Details: Integration and customisation

Branding

The interface can be adapted to your company colours and logo. Changes to the layout are possible on request and charged separately.

Offline use

For machines without a reliable network connection, findIQ offers an offline mode (early access, enabled on request). Users save the machines they need while online. Afterwards, the Service Guide, troubleshooting and routines for these machines also work without a connection.

Current limitations:

  • Only previously saved machines are available.

  • Chains are not supported yet.

  • No logbook entries are created while offline.

  • Only images are available, no videos and no PDFs.

Device requirements: at least 3 GB of free storage and 6 GB of RAM, Android 15 or later or the latest iOS version, Chrome, Edge or Safari. Firefox is not supported in offline mode.
